In the midst of the storm that the Philippines is having at present, the undesirable weather seems to be worthless and could suffice the desire of the Filipinos to celebrate the birthday of its national hero. The tourists and the Filipinos stood in lines to give and offer flowers to the monument of the hero, Dr. Jose Rizal at the Rizal Park no famous known as Luneta in Manila early this Sunday.
According to correspondent Manny Vargas of DZBB radio, the Filipinos waited near the monument to offer flowers colored pink, red, and white in its monument. They said, according to an interview that they do not mind getting soaked and wet because they wanted to pay tribute to RIZAl in his 150 birthday. It is recalled that the hero was born on June 19, 1861 and the celebration this Sunday closed to its 150th celebration.
Earlier this Sunday, students from the different schools in the city participate in the fun run and braved the rain for the educational race at the Quirino Grandstand. According to the Secretary of the Department of Education Armin Luistro, the event welcomed more than 10,000 students although the event ended very soon at 8:30 am.
