Billionaire Jerry Jones was awed with the Pinoy pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao. On this statement on press Jones said “Manny Pacquiao is an enigma.”
“Manny is well-respected, well-liked and beloved by Mexico, whose men he had beaten up,” said the awe-inspired Jones, who is joining hands with Arum’s Top Rank Inc. in staging the Pacquiao vs Clottey world title match.
The Texas billionaire Jerry Jones had a memorable experience during the ongoing whirlwind tour to Mexico together with Promoter Bob Arum to promote his latest project – the March 13 Pacquiao vs Clottey fight.
“The reception (here in Mexico) is unbelievable” added Jones, whose next stop will be the city of Monterrey where he and Arum are expected to preside over another press conference.
Jones and Arum decided to visit Mexico to further hype up the fight with the inclusion of Mexican fighters – featuring one-time Pacquiao sparring partner and ex-world champion Jose Luis Castillo – on the undercard.
“We are mesmerized with the reception given to us,” said Arum.
Billionaire Jerry Jones is the owner of the Dallas Cowboys and the state-of-the-art Cowboys Stadium that will be the site of the Pacquiao-Clottey fight. Jones said he wonder with the way the Mexican media and public responded to the event and specially to the Filipino fighter who beats most of the Mexican boxers.

The pound-for-pound king is on his top form during his first day of sparring session on Thursday by dominating journeyman boxer Bryan Brooks in four rounds. Brooks was hurt a few times during the sparring session. The sparring practice is in preparation for Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight on March 13, 2010 at the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas.
The 7-time world champion is heavily favored to win in 3 to 1 chance but both Manny Pacquiao and Coach Freddie Roach is not taking any slack. Coach Roach did not allow any media members to film the sparring session or mitt work.
Pacquiao is taking Joshua Clottey very seriously; he believes they have their work cut out for them. He said Clottey is a tough, durable opponent. In 39 fights, the boxer from Ghana has never been knocked out. This record simply mean one thing, Clottey is a very tough opponent.

Clottey to Train in Florida

Joshua Clottey travels to Fort Lauderdale, Florida this weekend to prepare for his March 13 showdown against the pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao in Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas. Clottey actually began training almost two weeks ago as soon as he arrived from a two-month vacation in his native country, Ghana, in his gym in Bronx, New York but the Ghanian boxer wants to intensify his training in preparation for Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight.
The decision to camp out in Fort Lauderdale, which is just 23 miles north of Miami, is for Clottey to escape the wintry weather in New York since Florida weather is pleasant with temperature hovering between 25-15 degrees Celsius this time of year.
Clottey had said in an interview that he might be just a fill-in fighter but he will going to give Manny Pacquiao a hell of a fight. “This is going to be a hell of a fight,” Clottey said.
Clottey said last week during the two-city promotional tour in Dallas and New York that he weighs around 160 lbs and that he doesn’t see any problem making the contracted welterweight limit of 147 lbs.
Clottey is the underdog on this fight. The odds are 3-1 in favor to the Filipino champ. But who knows, history has a long list of underdogs who toppled big dogs down.
Meanwhile, Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum said he expects to announce a sellout soon owing to the strong demand for tickets for the March 13 bout at Cowboys Stadium. If can’t get hold of the ticket to watch the fight live, you can watch Pacquiao vs. Clottey online.
Coach Freddie Roach Closes Wild Card Gym to Visitors

Coach Freddie Roach ordered to close down the wild card gym for visitor on the second day of Manny Pacquiao’s training for his upcoming Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight on March 13.
“The first day (Friday) Manny trained here, Freddie allowed the gym regulars to see the workout,” revealed Team Pacquiao security chief Rob Peters. But on the second day everyone was told to pack up and return after the pound-for-pound king through with his training, possibly on March 8.
This decision from Coach Roach simply indicates the Team Pacquiao is not taking Joshua Clottey for granted. The gym will be closed from 12 noon until 4 p.m. until the day Pacquiao leave for Dallas, Texas, the venue of his 12-round defense of the WBO welterweight belt.
Meanwhile the ticket for Pacquiao vs. Clottey is selling so fast that more than half of the 40,000 tickets are already sold out. The 100,000-seat Cowboys Stadium will be reconfigured to 40,000 for better viewing. The ticket for the match are priced as follows: $700, $500, $400, $300, $200, $100 and $50

by admin, on Sun, Jan 24 2010 | 1 CommentIt’s about one month and 2 two weeks to go before the much anticipated Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight but the tickets are selling like hotcakes! In the report of ESPN.com, more than 20,000 tickets were sold in the first three hours of sales on Saturday.
This may be due to reduced price of the fight ticket. Because of the size of the venue, tickets prices were lowered to more than half of the usual ticket price of Pacquiao fights.
The Dallas Cowboys Stadium can normally hold more than 100,000 audiences for a football game but for the Pacquiao vs. Clottey match it was decided to close the outer sections of the stadium and limit the crowd to around 40,000. Still, it is twice bigger than the usual venue of Pacquiao fights in Las Vegas, whether it’s the MGM Grand or the Mandalay Bay. But if the demand continues, then the stadium’s capacity can be increased. Pacquiao fights over the last two to three years were always sold out.
The ringside ticket price was reduced $700, almost half of the usual of $1,500. The cheapest tickets for this WBO welterweight match are only worth $50, just the equivalent of dinner and good bottle of wine in a nice restaurant. In previous Pacquiao fights, $50 can’t even get you past the entrance of the fight venue.
