“Ito ang pambansang awit natin I have to make sure na maganda ang pagkaka-awit natin,” he added.

The proper way of singing “Lupang Hinirang” became a big issue following the “incorrect” rendition of the national anthem by Martin Nievera during the May 2, 2009 fight of Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao Offense versus Clottey Defense

by admin, on Wed, Mar 10 2010 | No Comments

Just three more days to go before the much awaited Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight and the both boxers are all ready for the fight billed as “The Event” at the $1.2 billion Cowboys Stadium at Dallas, Texas.

Boxing critics and aficionado says that this fight will be a battle of furious offense versus the clam shell defense. In the boxing world, Manny Pacquiao is known for his speed and skills in offense whereas Joshua Clottey is known as one of the best defensive fighter. The Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight is predicted to be a showcase of best offense and best defense moves in boxing history.

The team Clottey said that the Ghanaian boxer had perfected his clamshell defense to close down Pacquiao. Clottey is going to end up shutting Pacquiao down completely the same way that Winky Wright shut down Felix Trinidad years ago, sending him into retirement. Clottey (35-3) is known for blocking punches. In his entire career the 32-year-old Ghana native also has never been knocked out — he’s been knocked down only once.

But Pacquiao’s long time coach Freddie Roach says, “Blocking punches doesn’t win fights. I think we can stop him in the late rounds. The accumulation of punches he’ll be taking in this fight he’s never seen before. … I don’t think he’ll be able to handle it.”

Clottey is bigger and taller than Pacquiao but like in Pacquiao’s previous fights opposite bigger opponents such as Oscar De La Hoyo, Ricky Hatton, and Cotto Roach said speed and skill will again proved to be the big difference.

Both boxers vows to give their best punches to offer the fans the most interesting fights they have seen. The Event can be watch in PPV or you can watch Pacquiao vs. Clottey online.
