RH Bill is Pro-life

courtey of wordliz.comThe ratification of the RH (Reproductive Health) Bill is one of the trending issues facing our country today. The Catholic Church is immensely against the passing of the said bill but the Filipinos are divided on their views regarding the legislation of this new law.

It is possible that majority of us would simply decide to vote against it and antagonize the approval of the said bill. Without reading the contents of the new act, one would think (especially the Catholic faith) that it would encourage immorality among the people. Teaching sex education to our kids in school and the open distribution of artificial contraceptives (such as the condom) will promote premarital sexual relations among young adults – less value for self and less respect for women.

Pondering on the reason why the Catholic Church is greatly against it, I decided to search for better information so I would know my stand on the subject.

The RH bill does not force anyone to use any form of family planning method including the choice between natural and artificial contraception. Neither does the bill keep Filipino families from maintaining a strict number of children.

The bill in its wholeness provides full protection for women against unwanted pregnancy and eventually abortion. It is in totality pro-life.

The bill being a solution for overpopulation will barely take effect. The growth of families will surely depend on every Filipino regardless of age, political view and religious affinity. Our liberty to choose accordingly plays an important part in population control. Premarital sex issues can be controlled only through proper guidance by parents to their children and education both from the church and the state. Truly, responsible parenting will somehow prevent immorality issues.

What really is disturbing is the allocation of funds for the programs that will entail the implementation of the RH bill. The bill “may” become another source of government infidelity and another means of having the nation’s fund go down the drain.

Evidently, I support the passing of the bill. Controlling our booming population is a key to the progress of our country. The RH Bill is worth a shot to somehow create a balance in our society. We can’t support life if we do not have enough resources for our population to survive. I just hope, the government will work hard to do their job in realizing the contents of this bill.
