She kept her silence amidst the raging intrigues that surrounds her threatening to destroy her dignity. Amanda Coling, a model, is alleged to be linked in a rape allegation against four members of the Philippines Azkals team. Coling refused to answer the question if it was she who was indeed the woman involved in the gang rape issue by Neil Etheridge, Simon Greatwich, Anton del Rosario and Jason Sabio.
When asked about the issue, she timidly answered via a live TV interview: “Cause naconsult ko na sa lawyer itong matter na ito, and sabi nya pag yun yung tanong, wag daw… Kasi it’s so sensitive e. Ayokong magsinungaling, ayoko ring makasakit.”
Coling, a freelance model, remained mum until recent events prompted her to speak out. She spoke about the issue after she was unceremoniously removed from a segment in the victory party show of FHM Philippines’ 100 Sexiest Women of the World 2011 last Thursday, July 14. She stated that her removal from the show is one form of discrimination on her part. Prior to this, she had eluded questions that might linked her with the issue.
‘That’s [ejection from show is] harassment. This is my job and I insisted that I’d be part of the show… I put my heart to it, I dedicated myself. All my efforts are nasayang lang kasi I’m not going to be part of it,” she told ABS-CBN News last week.
Coling explained that she never wanted to talk about the issue until she was pulled out from the FHM Philippines show.
“I even told my lawyer na ayoko talaga magsalita. I’m moving on from everything. I’m living my life. Biglang one time, on Thursday, yung isang event ng men’s magazine na I was supposed to be part of, bigla na kang pinull out ako the day before. So inisip ko, parang I felt harassed,” she said.
Coling asserted that she was seeking justice for herself and her family and friends who were also affected by the issue.
“Ako na nga yung alleged na biktima, wala na nga akong sinasabing masama sa kahit kanino, ako pa yung nakakareceive ng bad effects. Na-harass ako out of my job, nilalait ako sa Facebook, kung ano-ano. E ako naman, I believe in karma,” Coling added.
The Azkals team refused to release any statement. The rape case was alleged to happen at the house of the football team’s manager, Dan Palami. Palami is currently defending the team and stated that he is looking into the matter.

Despite the loss, Azkals is still qualified to join the Challenge Cup in Myanmar because of their aggregate score from their previous game where Azkals scored 2-0 leading against Mongolia. Accumulating their scores from the previous game here in Bacolod City, Azkals has 3 while Mongolia has 2.
Azkals star players felt disappointed knowing that they had let their adoring fans and nations down. Most football experts blamed the minus 12 degree Celsius weather which bring the tolls against the Filipino booters. Many game enthusiast quickly noticed that the team are quite sluggish in today’s game compared to their winning game in Bacolod. They noticed that it took quite some time for the booters to get used with the weather during the game as they are seen struggling in the first half of the game but later improved on the second half. Still, it is too late since it had already cost a lot when the opponent scored 2-1 beating the Azkals.
Rudy del Rosario of the Kaya Football Club said the Azkals were able to settle into their game in the second half.
‚ÄúWe actually finally settled in the second half, we were attacking more, we had more chances in goals. Some decisions they made weren’t the best decision but still, we got the results we wanted,‚Äù said Del Rosario. He further noticed that the biggest threat in the game are not the opponents but the weather itself as it had beaten down the Azkals and suppressed their skills.
Headed by their star player Phil Younghusband, the Azkals had repeatedly apologized to the Filipino fans via Twitter. Howeverm President Benigno Aquino showered the team with congratulations to cheer up the team. He ignored the lost game but rather focused his praise on the advancing of the team to the group stage of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup.
“The Filipino people stand united in congratulating our Philippine Azkals on their 3-2 aggregate win against the Mongolian football team during their prequalifying playoff match for the group stage of the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup,” the President said in a statement.
