Going gaga over Lady Gaga

courtesy of andronico.wordpress.comThe “Born this way ball” as termed for the world famous pop-star, Lady Gaga’s concert tour was successfully launched last night (May 21, 2012). Amidst the constant efforts of opposing religious groups in preventing the said gig to take place in Manila, the show was given another day to convene a second concert on Tuesday night (May 22nd) after representatives from Pasay local government affirmed her provocative acts as within limits. However, protest groups regard the pop star’s songs as blasphemous and pertaining to “devil worship.”

What makes these religious groups condemn the idea of Lady Gaga performing in our country?

I am a religious person myself not to mention my being always ready to serve the church whenever I am needed. But then, I don’t agree to being too reserved or recklessly conservative when it comes to certain things.

As individuals, we have the freedom to choose no matter if it’s right or wrong. It is our personal taste that makes up our own personality and defines us and makes one unique.

Anyone is free to choose the song they would like to hear and the artist (singer or musician) they would love to adore. Having Lady Gaga’s music as a preference is not a bad choice. In fact most of her songs are good and most people enjoy it.

Nonetheless, the way Lady Gaga portrays herself in front of her followers has some what raised questions of morality. She made good songs for us to hear and appreciate but there are other things that are really not worth of our praise.

Idolizing a famous person should be thoroughly thought of. Sing and dance all you want but you have to pull yourself together and remember that they are also human beings who just got the chance to be recognized.
