Pres. Benigno Aquino III has finally allowed the public release of the military investigation report regarding the 2004 election fraud.

Rep. Neri Colmenares, Bayan muna party list representative, received the letter last Wednesday (August 17) allowing the release of the said report. Representative Colmenares also requested a copy of the inquiry.

The Mayuga report was said to be a classified document by the military and its contents states that some of the military’s high ranking officers participated in ‘fixing’ the 2004 election results in favor of Ex-president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Based on the congressman’s initial analysis, the report does not define clearly any leads about the alleged poll fraud. According to his statement, the report does not show any electoral fraud and does not associate to the military except for advices for reforms. They may have to look in to the annexes for possible information.

The report was prepared by Navy Flag OIC Vice Admiral Mateo Mayuga who led the team in probing the participation of several ranking military officers on the alleged 2004 election poll.

The report may give additional information for the proper investigation regarding the poll fraud. Several senators are unsatisfied with the reports contents.

Bayan-muna party list Rep. Teddy Casiño implies that the report only contains general statements. It seems the investigators did not persevere on the examination. He furthermore questions the late release of the report despite its lacking contents.
