Donaire unmatched boxer holds title

by xarki, on Mon, Oct 15 2012 | No Comments

courtesy of fightnews.comNonito Donaire successfully defended his championship belt against Japanese newcomer boxer Toshiaki Nishoka in the recently held match in Carson City California at the Home Depot Center.

Throughout the match Donaire has shown exemplary performance, challenging the skills of the south paw Nishioka. It is clear that our very own pinoy boxer has scored more on each round despite the jap fighter having tricks up his sleeve – trying to wait for the right moment to unleash and rain hell upon the now seasoned Donaire.

The bout was not as exciting as anyone hoped for. The undercard fight between Rios and Alvarado has entertained their spectators more than the main match.

Nishioka seems too careful in throwing his punches bringing him to a total of 49 versus Donaire’s 134.

The “Filipino Flash” ended the match in the 9th round with just less than 2 mins on the clock using a powerful straight right punch that stunned the Japanese boxer. Donaire retained the super bantam weight title over a technical knockout.

8 is the lucky number

Viloria-Segura boutAs we all know Manny Pacquiao already made a fame of his name and his country as he created a mark in the International scene in the world of boxing, yet another Pinoy boxer made his way to defend his title as WBO flyweight champion.

Brian Viloria’s bout with Giovani Segura of Mexico on Sunday, December 11, 2011, finished off on the 8th round.

Segura started to gain some damage, as the “Hawain Punch’s” series of hooks made through as early as the second round. On the other hand, Viloria got a cut after receiving a straight right punch from his opponent.

The swelling on the Aztec Warrior’s right temple which Viloria had hit with his left hook may have diminished his visual frame causing the conclusion of the match as decided by referee Samuel Viret. The game ended in the 8th round after 29 seconds of the round used.

Viloria’s win aside from keeping his crown, added to his bout record of 29 wins and 3 loses with a total of 34 fights.

Viloria is expected to crash into the top 10 of the pound-for-pound list, joining eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao and fellow Fil-Am Nonito Donaire Jr.

More upcoming fights are laid down for Viloria by next year. Probable adversaries include Tyson Marquez (WBA champion), Pongsaklek Wonjonkam (WBC titlist) and Ivan Calderon.

Congratulations to the “Hawain Punch”! You give our country another glory in the sport of boxing. Pinoy boxing fans should look out for this guy – another sportsman worthy of fame.

Nonito Donaire’s mom finally speaks out of her grievances

by yenjam, on Wed, Jan 19 2011 | 4 Comments

“Stop lying, or else I will spank you”, Nonito Donaire’s mom said to the WBA Super Flyweight Champion of the Philippines. Here in our country, we actually, stand together as family no matter what, through thick and thin, that is how family oriented we are.

Nanay Donaire, the mother of Nonito Donaire Jr. cannot really take what his son has been saying of them. As a mother, she will never tolerate him saying harsh words to them as his parents. The controversies sparked up, on an interview with him posted in Boxingnews.com just recently, entitled “Nonito Donaire: The Sadness Behind the Smile.” The World boxer mentioned that his parents were not in good terms with her wife, Rachel. He also added that he came from a very poor family, not the favorite among the brood and lastly, he was a victim of child abuse from his military father. When his mom heard all these, she recounted that all her son’s revelations were all false and baseless.

These were the grievances of Nonito Donaire’s mother, Nanay Donaire on an interview with Anthony Andales:

She said,” Enough is enough, I have to air our side now, and wants to make my world champion son be aware that, we his family are listening to all lies, he thrown to us. He will certainly get a spanking from me if he won’t stop.”

In fact, the mother and the whole family were so hesitant at first to comment because it might cause chaos, but as they heard Nonito Jr’s earlier make-believe stories, they finally come out to the open. It saddens his mom and the whole Donaire’s family regarding those allegations.

Her mom said, “Real family must not count those expenses they made with each other, if his dad did not loved him, he would have account him of all we spent to raise him up too. His dad can never do that to him because he loves him.”

“Those accusations he made against us are not fair especially when we are his family, we raised them up through my being a teacher and his father Dodong as a soldier that time, and there is always food enough for all of us in the table”, Nanay Donaire explained. “Why, was he jealous of Glenn when during his struggling years, his brother was the one supporting him financially since he has no work but to boxed?” In fact, she said too, that Glenn was the one sustaining his needs because they made a pact together with their father that they have to support and share money whoever has.

The father of the world boxer shared that, “I love all of them so much, when I heard of what he said about me, it crushes my heart and hurt his brothers and sister. He preferred karate that time because he chose it, but when he saw Glenn’s trophies, he told me that he will box and there is no jealousy at all. I dragged them then, every weekend to run and held both their hands in the Marina together, we were all happy and aim to pursue a goal to be supportive with one another, as a pact”, the father recalled. Nevertheless, those promises perished when Nonito Donaire got married.

Several people commented on this that if Donaire considers Pacquiao as his Idol, why not follows Pacman’s treatment to his family, who never left him behind even when he was still nobody, instead of making false alibis just to draw attention.

The Vow of Viloria to Return to the Top

American professional boxer of Filipino descent Brian Viloria, also the former WBC Light Flyweight champion and IBF Junior Flyweight champion returns to the ring in Manila this July 10 at SolarTV’s Boxing at the Bay 4: Unbreakable’.

“The Hawaiian Punch” after losing his previous fight, Viloria is on mission to win a third world title, this time at flyweight where he indicated he would be far more comfortable as the step up in weight would be better for his physical attributes. He is returning to the fray having collapsed, exhausted, after losing his IBF light-flyweight title to Carlos Tamara last January. The loss was among the worst in Viloria’s 29 fights as a pro.

For the second straight time, Viloria’s reign as a world champion proved to be a short one. But this time, the US Olympian expressed confidence that he “will be back again on the world stage holding up another world, my third one at that. Mark my word!” Throughout his (more…)

Nonito “the Filipino Flash” Donaire, Jr. stunningly defended his World Boxing Association (WBA) interim super flyweight belt yesterday in the Pinoy Power 3/Latin Fury 13 showdown against Manuel “Chango” Vargas at the Las Vegas Hilton.

The 27-year-old Pinoy champ knocked out Vargas on the 3rd round of the match. Donaire landed 35 out of the 106 punches thrown while Vargas merely landed 4 out of 45 punches. Donaire retained his title and improved his record to 23-1 (15 KOs).

Donaire, meantime, said he is setting his sights on the WBA and World Boxing Council (WBC) unified super flyweight belts of Armenian Vic Darchinyan.

“That’s what I came for and hopefully I’ll get that fight. I’m here, I’m a fighter but I gotta listen to my guys.”
Donaire knocked out Darchinyan in the 5th round of their bout in 2007. He won the Armenian’s International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight title.

“For me, when you ask a fighter if they’re gonna fight, you know I’m definitely gonna fight especially if I can acquire two belts.”
