‚ÄúNow it’s time for the world to focus on May 1 when I promise you nobody will be sleeping except for Floyd after I knock him out and send him back into retirement,‚Äù these are the words of the WBA welterweight super champion when he was interviewed about the recently concluded fight between Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey.
Shane “Sugar” Mosley said, “I would like to congratulate Manny on his victory Saturday night even though I think it put most of the fans watching to sleep.”
Mosley said that the upcoming Mayweather vs. Mosley fight will surely be a showdown unlike the one-sided fight of Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey last Saturday. Mosley, who will face Mayweather at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 1, even declared that he will score a knockout against his opponent.
Shane Mosley is currently the World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight super champion, while Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has won six world boxing championships in five different boxing weight classes and still undefeated in his entire professional boxing career.

After a little difficulty in beating the Ghanaian boxer Joshua Clottey, the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world said he’ll have an even easier time against Floyd Mayweather Jr. “His (Mayweather) style is not as difficult as Clottey’s. It’s easy to study,” said Pacquiao.
Manny Pacquiao just recently won over Joshua Clottey by unanimous decision in the long 12 rounds of boxing retaining his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight belt.
“Kaya eh (I can take it),” said Pacquiao after disembarking from the chartered Boeing 737-800 that took him, his wife Jinkee, his family, team members and friends – more than 150 of them – from Dallas to Los Angeles.
He said he tried to break Clottey’s defense and go for a knockout. But the challenger was so stubborn he let Pacquiao hit him on the body instead.
“Ayaw sumuntok eh, kaya nagpapasuntok na din ako, para bumukas (He wouldn’t throw punches so I let him hit me so he’d open up),” Pacquiao said.
The pound-for-pound king said it could be the same thing all over again if and when he gets a chance to face Mayweather, also known for his defense, and his tendency to settle for a decision than risk going for a knockout.
“But Mayweather must do his business first,” said Pacquiao referring to the upcoming Mayweather vs. Mosley fight on May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather Thrash Mosley with Drug Issues Too
by admin, on Wed, Mar 3 2010 | No Comments
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is not yet finish with the drug testing issues with Manny Pacquiao; he also trashes Shane Mosley with it. The undefeated boxer brought up Mosley’s doping history during the press conference for the Mayweather vs. Mosley held at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square, New York City.
Mayweather quoted in Associated Press, ‚ÄúI can’t say how many fights Shane has won in the past because we know Shane was using enhancement drugs. That’s something we do know.‚Äù
‚ÄúIt’s no different than Pacquiao. I offered Pacquiao the fight. I said, ‚ÄòWe’ll give you $25 million.‚Äô I never met a man who wouldn’t take a $25 million drug test,‚Äù continued Mayweather.
Mosley admitted to taking steroids ‚Äúunknowingly‚Äù in 2003 after being forced by a former strength and conditioning coach to do so as part of his training. Although Mosley did not react to Mayweather’s statement, the boxers still had a minor scuffle during the press conference which prompted their team members to intervene.
On previous interviews, Mosley said that he doesn’t care what Mayweather talks. All he cares is the money he could win from the match and the chance to fight against Manny Pacquiao.
Mayweather was supposed to fight Pacquiao on March 13 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada but negotiations did not push through because of the drug testing issue. The Pinoy boxer opted to fight Joshua Clottey instead. The Pacquiao vs. Clottey is scheduled on March 13 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
On the other hand, Mayweather takes on Mosley who supposed to fight against the Haitian boxer Andre Berto last January but it did not push through because Berto’s family was affected by the devastating earthquake occurred in Haiti.

“I think Mosley will win,” says the pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao when he was asked on Krystal Hart Show of what his prediction on the outcome of Mayweather vs. Mosley fight on May 1.
The Filipino boxing sensation even thinks that Mayweather is a “boring” fighter. But he somehow revoked his statement by saying that the fight between “Pretty Boy Floyd” and “Sugar Shane” will still be a treat for fight fans.
“I think Mayweather vs. Mosley will be a good fight,” he said.
Pacquiao then went on to give another reason why his scheduled March 13 bout with Mayweather did not push through.
“I’m not concerned about the Money. I’m concerned about what I can give in terms of my performance to the people who love boxing. My concern isn’t only with myself, but with the people who buy tickets looking for a good fight,” Manny Pacquiao said.
“I don’t want to disappoint people with a boring fight. I feel you need to entertain the people who watch your fights.”
Pacquiao, meanwhile, assured the boxing fans that they will witness a very good fight in the upcoming Pacquiao vs. Clottey match up on March 13 at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
“It’s going to be a good fight because he has a good style. It’s a different kind of style and I want to fight. He’s bigger and he’s taller than Miguel Cotto.”

Mayweather vs. Mosley come into being because of the failed negotiation regarding the drug testing issue on the supposed Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight. Manny Pacquiao had moved on and pick Joshua Clottey.
“Sugar‚Äù Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather Jr. have reportedly agreed to terms to fight for the World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight title, according to a report by ESPN.com.
“Shane has signed. I sat with him [Friday] and we went through every provision of the contract and he signed,” Mosley’s attorney Judd Burstein told ESPN.com. “He is excited to move forward with the bout.”
Mosley reportedly agreed to undergo random blood and urine testing, as has Mayweather.
The Mosley-Mayweather fight came into fore after talks for a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight collapsed due to Floyd’s drug test demands.
Mosley was supposed to face Haiti’s Andre Berto in a title-unification match, but Berto was forced to pull out after some of his family members were killed in the earthquake in Haiti.
Meanwhile, the Pacquiao vs. Clottey match is set to roll on March 13.
