It had almost been a year when close friends Toni Gonzaga and Mariel Rodriguez had a falling out against each other. Heart aches ensued over the issue that Mariel had been bad-mouthing Toni. Many fans were disappointed since Mariel and Toni had been considered as time-tested friends in showbiz industry.
And now, the clouds in their dimmed friendship have been cleared as they had patched up their broken friendship. Common friend Bianca Araneta would certainly be pleased with the new development as it had been her fervent wish to patch things up between the two. She had been caught in between the fight and related that the feud between two of her bestfriends had affected her.
Neither Mariel nor Toni are also at peace during their troubled times as Toni had been very emotional on TV with her grudge on Mariel. Looking back, the badmouthing issue appeared when a certain blog posted that Mariel referred to Toni as “duling.” In addition, the supposed movie between Toni and Robin Padilla had been busted because of the budding romance that is going on that time between Mariel and Robin. Thus started a dent on their friendship.
This year, all grudges had been erased and all tears been wiped out between the two. The said reconciliation occurred during Toni’s birthday celebration at “The Buzz” yesterday. Mariel sent her a birthday greeting via text message. It also acted as a source of peace reconciliation. It was warmly and eagerly accepted by Toni. The text goes:
“Happy happy happy happy birthday Toni. I’m very happy kasi napakadami mong blessings na natatanggap. You deserved them because you worked so hard. A lot has happenend but one thing is for sure. You will always have a friend in me. It’s not the first time that it has happened to us but our friendship is strong enough to surpass any obstacle.
Mangingibabaw at mangingibabaw ang mabuti nating pagkakaibigan. Hindi lang kaibigan ang turing ko sa ‘yo. Isa kang kapatid, alam mo yan. Happy happy happy birthday. My birthday wish for you is simple. I just hope you are happy. At Toni ako nagpakasal na. Ikaw naman ang next. Hehehe! Happy birthay!”
Toni was very emotional and admitted that she missed Mariel, her longtime friend. Her reply was also etched with emotions.
“Thank you Ma, (Mariel) thank you for that message. It’s been a long time since na huli tayo nagkita and I’m looking forward na magkita tayo one of these days. Thank you for wishing me well kahit nung Christmas just like kung ano man yung nararamdaman mo kung ano man yung nangyari noon. Kung ano man yung pinagdaanan natin I will always treasure you in my heart so… I miss you,” Toni said.
Toni stated that what happened to them had somehow helped them mature in their relationship. It made them realize who and what to value in life. Indeed, in the murky world of showbiz, it is a comfort to friend real friends who could be with you through thick and thin.
