Pacquiao has still Mayweather on mind

Despite of his intense training for the upcoming Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight, the pound-for-pound for king still has Floyd Mayweather Jr., on his mind, says Pacquiao’s long time coach Freddie Roach.

‚ÄúI saw Manny, sometimes when he’s shadow boxing, he shows me how Mayweather fights and how he’s going to take case of the problem,‚Äù Roach told FightHype.com.

The trainer said this somehow shows that Pacquiao is preparing himself mentally against Mayweather.
‚ÄúI’ve never seen Manny do that before,‚Äù he said. ‚ÄúManny really wants to fight him in the future because of the remarks he (Mayweather) made.‚Äù

It is a clear indication that Manny Pacquiao still wants to take Mayweather down. Mayweather’s demand made it look as if the Filipino boxer has been taking performance enhancing drugs still somehow angered Pacquiao.

‚ÄúWe’re not happy with his (Mayweather) remarks,‚Äù said Roach.

Meanwhile, Roach predicted that the Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight would not reach into 12 rounds. ‚ÄúThe beginning of the fight is going to be hard. He’s (Clottey) a very good opponent and likes to fight, but we will break him down, and I’m very confident the fight won’t go 12 rounds,‚Äù said Hall of Famer coach Freddie Roach.

Manny Pacquiao, the only boxer to win 7 world titles in 7 different weight divisions, will defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight crown against the Ghanian boxer Joshua Clottey at the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas on March 13.

The pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and his worthy opponent Joshua Clottey started the promoting their March 13 fight at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas yesterday. Surrounded by dozens of dazzling Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders and under the world’s largest high-definition TV, the Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao and the Ghanian boxer Joshua Clottey officially announces their match on March 13, 2010.

The Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight was materialized after the long and controversial negotiation between Pacquiao and Mayweather camp failed come in a positive end. Although, the Pacquiao – Mayweather fight was highly anticipated, boxing fans and critics said that the Pacquiao vs. Clottey match-up is going to be an interesting fight.

“It’s going to be a good fight,” Pacquiao said. “Clottey, he is a good fighter, a top fighter, and he is bigger than me. I have to prepare hard for this fight and train hard and focus.”

After the long and fruitless negotiation between the Mayweather and Pacquiao camp, the Filipino champ moved on to challenge more “reasonable” boxer. Instead of Floyd Mayweather, Jr, Manny Pacquiao will be facing Joshua Clottey of Ghana when March 13 comes.

The Texas billionaire Jerry Jones sends a private plane to fetch Top Rank chairman Bob Arum in Las Vegas so they could finalize the deal for Manny Pacquiao’s world welterweight title defense against Joshua Clottey of Ghana at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas on March 13.

According to Bob Arum, Joshua Clottey “has agreed to the terms” and the talk with Jones is a mere formality of the fight taking place there.

On the hand, Mayweather still expresses his desire to fight with the pound-for-pound king Pacquiao but he did not want budge with his ridiculous demands. Arum said Mayweather, simply didn’t have the nerve to face Pacquiao as evidenced by his outrageous and unsupported demands over blood testing. Arum told Mayweather to get lost after the two sides failed to come to an agreement – despite the intervention of a noted arbiter in Daniel Weinstein.
