Zaldy expects no condition for his testimony against Arroyo

by Alethea, on Sat, Jul 16 2011 | No Comments

Zaldy Ampatuan is now singing a different tune as he released statements that would pin down former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in a plunder case. The prime suspect for the Maguindanao Massacre released the statement amidst his ongoing trial for the murder of 57 people, the bloodiest in the history of journalist killing.

Cries of possible foul arose from the victims as they stated that this may be a ploy for Ampatuan to escape his possible incarceration on the case. He is set to testify and condemn also his father and brothers whom he claimed to have been instrumental in the irregularities committed by President Arroyo. Yet, his lawyer, Howard Calleja made an assurance that Zaldy’s expose is not part o the deal with the Aquino administration to strike down former President Arroyo. His expose did not guarantee him being exonerated from the case.

“The Governor’s willingness to help the government carries no condition of any kind and was borne out of a genuine desire to offer the truth and bring closure to the issues at hand,” Calleja said in a statement.

He added that Zaldy does not have any ulterior motive or requested condition other than to “offer the truth to the government to help them and bring closure to the issues at hand.”

He clarified that Zaldy is set to do something for the government and that is by helping them out in their quest for justice against the corruption conducted by the previous administration. He is willing to volunteer in any means that he could afford without expecting any favour in return. His only request is the safety of his family.

Calleja also expressed his client’s belief that he would be able to prove his innocence from the slews of charger filed against him. Aside from the 57 counts of murder, Zaldy and several of his relatives are also facing plunder charges and a complaint before the Anti-Money Laundering Council.

Ampatuan getting VIP treatment in prison

by Alethea, on Fri, May 27 2011 | No Comments

Strings of controversy seemed to tie themselves lately on the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology as allegation and proofs of VIP treatment on some high profiled detainees surface one by one. Adding weight to the issue are solid proofs that is sure to incriminate the BJMP authorities.

Former Governor Leviste had been the first proven guilty of enjoying VIP treatment while inside the correctional facility. His out of prison tours were caught on cam by several press. Presently, another complaint against the seeming loose policy of the prison stirred BJMP as Governor Mangudadatu claimed that the most notorious prison of all is also getting the same treatment. Mangudadatu stated that mass murderer Governor Zaldy Ampatuan together with his clan members convicted on killing 57 civilians and journalists are treated with special consideration inside the prison.

Mangudadatu’s claim started when they are barred from conducting a surprise visit to the detention facility where prominent members of the Ampatuan clan linked to the Maguindanao massacre are being detained. The Ampatuans are currently detained at Quezon City Jail Annex in Taguig City. Out of frustration, Mangudadatu revealed proofs showing Andal Sr flanked with group of people including a woman who seemed to be using a cellphone. Cellphone use is strictly prohibited inside the detention facility. There are also pictures which showed several luxurious vehicles arriving in the detention center. Mangudadatu claimed that he also have footages of the Ampatuans clearly getting special treatment while inside the prison.

“Baka lumabas dito na mas sobra pa ito kay Leviste,” said Mangudadatu, referring to former Batangas Gov. Antonio Leviste, who was able to slip out from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City, where he has been detained since he was convicted of homicide in January 2009.

Despite his absence in the country, President Aquino released warnings that jail officials will be fired from their jobs if the allegation is proven true. However, he refrained from stating any final say as he reasoned that he still has yet to see the photos and videos.

“I cannot comment on it because I haven’t seen any of it. I haven’t seen the picture or the purported video but definitely if that happened, then heads should roll . There should be no VIP treatment. I’m sure [DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo] will report to me when I get home,” he said in a statement.

Do they have guilt?

by yenjam, on Sun, Nov 28 2010 | No Comments

We are not here to judge others of their wrong doings because we are just human after all. However, when all aspects involved are well analyzed on an incident that is inhuman just like the brutal killing that occurred in Maguindanao Province, nobody could not help to accuse and cursed those people suspected in performing such heinous crime. Are they out of their mind?

You might be wondering why they did that; no one with proper mind can ever perform such morbid killing even though how much hatred you have you certainly could not do that, do you? Nevertheless, mere watching it is unbearable. If ever proven, definitely the influential Datu Unsay Mayor Abdal Ampatuan Jr. as prime suspect, people cannot help but ask do they have guilt or is it just a trip under the influence of drugs? Who can say, that it is not, when defenseless civilians and media people were mercilessly shot. Judgment defies the violence of the action such as, men and women were shot at close range while down on their knees begging for their lives, in spite death they were shot repetitively by the assailant with automatic weapons and the worst thing is, they shot the women in the genitals, that is morbid!!! God, why did you allow these people to live??? The authorized probe team of the case said that this was done in insanity and not on their full senses, so horrible, cannot envisioned how they did that as stated by the study and concluded as prejudiced either by drugs or by alcohol.

Not only that, the Ampatuans are involve in various killings, they are also into misusing government funds and are involve of illegal drug trading. The untouchable clan dominated Maguindanao for all decade because of the great political allies they have on the former President and was tolerated having utilized private run army as a power against separate rebels or to those who stand against their regime.

The Multi- million peso mansions they built was alleged that this came from the stolen government funds worth 500 million pesos. For the Ampatuan’s, finances just flow out easily like a river that overflows. To maintain their lavish lifestyle, money in the administration treasury would not be enough. However, in spite the power behind all these, they finally reach the end; all of their anomalies have been revealed because of those heroes being massacred. Hope they will come to realize that the Truth must prevail.

Thousands of Guns Still in the Hands of Ampatuan Followers Says NBI

by admin, on Mon, Feb 22 2010 | No Comments

The National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) Counter Terrorism Unit said that there are at least 3,000 to 4,000 loose firearms believed to be still in the control of supporters and relatives of the powerful Ampatuan clan in Maguindanao.

According Ricardo Diaz of NBI-CTU, the agency has started to apply for search warrants in several courts in the province to retrieve those numerous weapons.

‚ÄúThe Counter Terrorism Unit is tasked to locate the firearms so that these will not be used to commit violence, political violence and intimidations in the coming elections and to have free elections in the province of Maguindanao and the whole Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao,” Diaz said.

‚ÄúThe military and police have recovered over 1,000 firearms. But there are 5,000 police, military and civilian security who are involved in security surveillance on the roads when the Nov. 23 massacre was carried out. All these 5,000 people are armed according to our witnesses. But over 1,000 guns were only recovered so we need to retrieve thousands of firearms between 3,000 to 4,000 firearms,” he added.

He said the firearms could be hidden in warehouses, safe houses or even buried underground.

‚ÄúThe legal way to retrieve these firearms is to have search warrants. The martial law was already lifted so the process may be lengthy because it may take time to apply and get search warrants,” he said.
