Pacman: another punch for Marquez

by xarki, on Tue, Sep 25 2012 | No Comments

courtesy of bleacherreport.comAfter that controversial boxing match with Timothy Bradley, Manny Pacquiao is here again to defend his title for the fourth time against Juan Manuel Marquez. Seriously?!

Don’t get me wrong. But what I see here is just pure money talk. Boxing fans will soon get tired of their never ending rambles just to get hold of that championship belt (or is it the sales revenue?). Well, I think it’s how things work in the world of professional boxing.

Ever since the disappointing Pacman-Bradley boxing match, many people have lost their interest in watching Manny’s fights. Honestly, I do believe on what others say about the “business” thing that happens in pro boxing.

I was a Pacman fan. Way before this guy started making fame his middle name – his amateur skills that led to a rather short pound-for-pound mash ups during his early years. Making many people (including me) amazed with Pacman’s unique abilities as a Pinoy boxer. Surely, everyone would say “wow” to this guy’s fast moves and strong punches. His street fight technique made him one hell of a boxer. But then Manny already made his mark and I think it’s time for a new blood to take over that spot.

The match is set to take place this December 2012 at Las Vegas. Though the question is, will this bout be any different from Manny’s previous fights with Marquez? Or will he regain the trust of his fans after that controversial fight with Tim Bradley? Will he be able to knockout his opponent this time?

Thirty-eight year old, three-division world champion Juan Manuel Marquez is here in the Philippines for the World Press tour for his 3rd bout with 32 year old, eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao which will be held on November 12 (November 13, Manila time) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Mexican professional boxer Juan Manuel Marquez who is known as the best technical fighter in the whole world, has a record of 53 wins, 39 knockouts, 5 losses and 1 draw which was against Sarangani Congressman Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao last 2004. Their return bout in 2008 ended in a split decision win for Pacquiao taking away Marquez’s WBC super featherweight title.

Marquez reiterated, “Yes, I think I won the fight. Manny knows who won the second fight.” To end all these questions about both fights, they will be facing again at a 144-pound catchweight.

Just hours after arriving at the Centennial Airport, Marquez was seen jogging and stretching at the Luneta Park with his training team in tow. “I want to work my strength and speed since Manny is very fast. I (also) need to work for the weight. For this fight, I want to train very hard”, explained Marquez.

With the number one pound-for-pound best boxer in the world, Manny Pacquiao against the best technical fighter in the whole world, Juan Manuel Marquez, how do you think this fight will end?
