Still on Marcos

by Alethea, on Sat, Jul 9 2011 | No Comments

Aside from the confession that while getting older and having more shoes, Imelda Marcos expressed her thoughts and her little more personal life.

She said that at the age of 82 (she has just celebrated her birthday), she doesn’t have any regrets about her past and her long existence relies on her attitudes and philosophies.

“The body ages but the spirit does not and if the spirit is fed and energized with the right, beautiful and good values, the spirit will never get old,” said the beauty icon and representative at the same time.

The she added…

“When you are in a problem and you are kind of lost in this world, just look at heaven and the heavens is wider than the earth. Mas maraming solution kesa sa problema.”

She also expressed her feelings about the decision of the palace of not allowing a hero’s burial for former president Ferdinand Marcos.

“Can you imagine, a man like Ferdinand, a man with 32 (during World War II) medals, and yet he (referring to Aquino) does not honor the awards given by our allies?” the former first lady said.

“Takot na takot ako. I am afraid of him (talking to Aquino again) especially on things like that…when people do not make good decisions,” she added.

Imelda said it was a great injustice to the dead if the Aquino administration would continue to deprive the former president and her husband the honorable burial that they are asking for. The lady insisted that former president Marcos deserves such honor.

As remembered, the Marcos family pleads to bury their patriarch in the Libingan ng mga Bayani which is known as the final resting place of presidents, secretaries, and militaries who gave and brought honor to the country and those that make great contribution in the general welfare.

Ferdinand Marcos, by history, declared the martial law in the country last September 21, 1971 during his reign. He died in Hawaii on September 28, 1989 due to kidney failure and his body was returned in the Philippines about ten years after his exile.

His body is preserved in Ilocos Norte, Batac specifically, for so many years in the hope of the family that he will be granted with permission to bury with hero’s burial.

President Noynoy Aquino, the son of Ninoy who was the prime critic of the Marcos was firm in saying in an interview that hero’s burial for Marcos will not happened during “his watch”.

In an attempt to let the issue sick, Vice President Binay suggested and proposed that the former president will be buried in the Marcos’ hometown with full military honors.

However, the Iron Butterfly reacted on this matter.

“When you show honor, there should be no limit,” Imelda said. “I was a little disappointed because he went on a long trail of expensive survey and 70 percent approved an honorable burial.”

In all of these, Imelda relies in the divine providence and is giving everything to God.

“There’s always an answer, a divine plan. What the Lord awaits for him is not (just) an honorable burial but a sacred burial.”

Imelda Marcos turns 82

by Alethea, on Fri, Jul 1 2011 | No Comments

The wife of the former president Ferdinand Marcos recently celebrated her 82nd birthday and expresses her aspirations and wishes. Imelda Marcos, in her exclusive interview showed her vast collection of vintage shoes and other limited and signature collections which prove why she is still on the list of those who fashion icons and beauty reference.

Aside from being a representative of Ilocos, the once addressed Iron Butterfly always appears in her signature hairstyle and the much coveted Filipiniana attire.

If she is to ask why she still upholds her beauty lines and routines, well, her statement will certainly answer the question.

“I’m allergic to pangit,” she said.

During the interview, Imelda shares her wishes which commence from “justice for human beings” which she cited as justice for her family and the great injustice and humiliation the Marcoses have received over the time.

“The media is so powerful that it can even destroy you beyond death and beyond life. The gun can kill you only up to the grave but the media can kill you beyond the grave and to infinity,” as she is referring to the bad stigma their clan is having at present. This leads her to ask the “true democracy and and true justice for each citizen”.

She recalled her experiences and she said that at her age, she has experience the best and the worst of everything and she even define each of them. She said that her most momentous moment is when she won the so called “case of the century” and that is when she was pronounced not guilty of the 901 case charges against her.

“That was a great phase of my life. Even if you are completely penniless and countryless, if you are at peace with the truth, you are at peace with God,” she said with great emotion.

According to her, one of the greatest misconception the media has build in the public was that she has a thousand of shoes well in fact, according to her, she only have few.

“They said I had thousands of shoes, which was not true. It was a lie in the end because when Malacanang gave it to the Marikina museum it was even less than 200,” she confirmed.

“At this point in time of my life, I think I deserve more shoes than what was lied to the world!”

Imelda Marcos ordered to pay 12 million for graft case in NFA

by Alethea, on Mon, Apr 11 2011 | No Comments

True to PNoy’s words of persecuting those who had massive graft cases against the government, many affluent political names had been stirred as they are now hounded with cases for their supposed misdeeds. First to be targeted is the former president’s son, Mikey Arroyo. Now, it is the former First Lady whose name seems to be always linked to series of elusive corruption cases. But she is not infallible.

Former First Lady Imelda Marcos, the most recent target of corruption cases, was ordered by the Sandiganbayan’s fifth division to pay back the government P12 million illegally taken from the National Food Authority (NFA). The court mandates the first lady to pay the amount within 30 days upon the receipt of the order. The two page was issued last week by Sandiganbayan Sheriff Edgardo Urieta.

The widow of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos was ordered to pay the 12 million back to the NFA because it is supposed to be a government fund. The court stated that the fund was transferred to the Marcoses after the late dictator verbally instructed the then NFA Administrator Jesus Tanchanco to withdraw the funds. The amount of 10 million is the total withdrawn amount which Tanchanco testified was deposited later to private account in 1983. The private account is in the Security Bank office in Makati. The other 2 million would cover the cost for moral damages and litigation.

Seven months before, Sandiganbayan already ruled the Marcoses as guilty of misappropriating the NFA amounts but the writ only came last week to execute the order. The court stated that if Imelda could not come up with the amount, she could pay with assets and properties that are of equivalent value.

With the recent progress of corruption cases, people are starting to trust once more, the government that was once riddled with graft issues. Despite the president’s low ratings, this new achievement could hopefully help him regain his lost luster as he strives to show effort in attaining the promise he had for the Filipinos.
