You have to mark your calendars now, the most awaited dream match between the pound-for-pound king Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and the former pound-for-pound king Floyd “Pretty Boy” Mayweather Jr. is likely to happen in March 13. In the report from GMA7, Manny Pacquiao confirms that he agreed with the March 13, 2010 Pacquiao vs Mayweather fight despite of Coach Freddie Roach comment earlier.

Manny said he agreed for the March 13 mega-fight with Mayweather and instructed promoter Bob Arum to iron out all details in order for both boxers to finally seal the deal. At this posting time, Arum is negotiating the details of the contract, like the weight where they will be fighting and the purse split, with Golden Boy’s negotiator Richard Schaeffer, whom Mayweather has tapped to deal with the camp of the seven-division world champion.

It seems to Manny that this fight is not all about the title. He just wants to bring down Mayweather because he is not setting a good example to kids. Pacquiao said the trash-talking Mayweather is not a good role model for kids, who regularly look up to athletes as their heroes. ‚ÄúHe (Mayweather) is full of thrash talk whom the children should not emulate.”

He also advised trainer Freddie Roach and his fans not to worry about his condition even though he only has less than four months after fighting Cotto, whom he defeated via a 12-round technical knockout to wrest the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight crown.

pacquiao-vs-mayweatherThe much-anticipated dream match between Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is all but set for March 13, this news was published on a Yahoo! Sports.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has agreed to terms and promoter Bob Arum is about to take a trip to Manila to finalize a deal with Pacquiao. Both parties are considering Las Vegas, Dallas and New Orleans for the venue, which is expected to become the highest-grossing boxing match in the sport’s history.

Pacquiao is the top pound-for-pound fighter in nearly every major ranking, including Yahoo! Sports. Mayweather is No. 2 in most rankings and was No. 1 in nearly all of the polls before he briefly retired in June 2008.

After Pacquiao victorious fight against Miguel Cotto early this November, the public demand for the fight between the two boxing superstar has been mounting, putting pressure on Arum and Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, who represents Mayweather, to get a deal done.

Promoters had targeted May 1 for the fight but due to Pacquiao’s intent to run for the Congressional seat in 2010 election, the fight would either be moved up to March 13 or pushed back until September 2010.

Though there were reports that Arum was considering matching Pacquiao with new WBO super welterweight champion Yuri Foreman on March 13 in Dallas that was a diversionary move and was never serious.

A survey team from Top Rank promotions will inspect Dallas Cowboys Stadium as a possible venue. The MGM Grand Garden Arena and the New Orleans Superdome are also in the running to host the mega-fight of the century.
