Corona’s out of office, what to do next?

by xarki, on Mon, Jun 18 2012 | No Comments

courtesy of article.wn.comIt’s already been weeks since Chief Justice Corona was ousted from office of the Judiciary Department after receiving a “guilty” conviction on the country’s controversial impeachment trial.

Many of us have thought that the judgment will take longer than expected, yet a 45-month duration has successfully concluded the court case. A lot of things have transpired during this historic event making an essential experience for everyone in the government and for the rest of the nation.

Though we were a lot entertained with the heightened episodes as the court proceedings reached its last leg, many are still pondering. So the chief justice was impeached, what to do now?

The government is up until this moment, diligent to find us the next commendable head to run the judiciary branch. Speculations suggest that the next chief justice could come out of the current roster of the Supreme Court, which most professional counsels have expressed that doing so is unorthodox yet plausible.

Other than scrutinizing every detail for the eligibility of the succeeding chief justice, it has awakened the awareness of the public about the laws of state and somehow enlightened us that many of our public servants are possible to have the same misgivings as that of the ejected Corona. The impeachment should have marked and served as a stepping stone for the search for truth and honesty among the people in the government as we are all aware that our nation’s administration has contributed to the world’s corruption. I hope it is just not another reason to keep our current leader’s ratings high and nothing more than just good publicity. I suppose we had enough of the fault-finding and time to keep up with the needs of the people.

Soon a new chief justice will take the seat but for the majority of the public, a systematic and honest public organization is what we always hope for. We can impeach everyone but when will it ever stop?

High tension drama on Corona’s Impeachment Trial

by xarki, on Wed, May 23 2012 | No Comments

courtesy of getrealphilippines.comThe recent events that happened inside the senate court on Chief Justice Corona’s Impeachment Trial have reached insurmountable results. Everyone has long awaited the chance for the chief magistrate to defend himself in front of the senator judges and the viewing public to finally end these everlasting episodes of legal proceedings that has become more of a reality based “telenovela” at judicial court.

Corona almost had every single Filipino take his side after hearing statements as revealed by the chief justice himself on the senate court. His decision to leave without prior consent from the senate president Juan Ponce Enrile (presiding judge) has enraged the latter. Furthermore, his return on a wheel chair is too good to be true. Another guilty official making use of his health issues to escape the scorching questions of the tribunal? I believe adding a neck brace would make the act more plausible.

So how are we going to believe the testimonies that CJ Corona have proclaimed if he does not want to be cross examined by the prosecutors of this trial? An obvious answer to that would be if he sustains his denial of attesting in view of his acquittal. It seems his chances of getting acquitted will be hopeless right after his melodramatic performance this afternoon.

Corona’s actions has called upon Enrile’s decision to write off the record based on the statements he just issued in court and only consider presented evidence in deciding on the case. Yet, the senate president has given CJ Corona up until Wednesday afternoon to present himself again on the witness stand to avoid forfeiting his assertions.

Senator Santiago: highly intelligent or shrewd lunatic?

courtesy of keywordspeak.comIt has been more than a month since the senate trial court started the case to find reason for Chief Justice Renato Corona to be impeached out of the Judicial Department. Throughout the course of the presentation of witnesses and evidences that may serve as grounds for the chief justice’s impeachment, many people have witnessed a number of surprising events inside the senate court. Moreover, Honorable Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago’s presence has made the impeachment trial more interesting to the viewing public.

The Madame Senator has long been known for her adeptness in the playful usage of terms in every statement she delivers. She is considered to be one of the highly intelligent individual in the world of politics and has garnered so much appreciation even outside the country as she was accepted to be part of the International Court as one of the presiding judges.

The presence of Senator Santiago in CJ Corona’s case has always been the most awaited part of the trial and never will you be bored with the statements she throws at the trial proceedings, although it seems to be more as a diatribe against the impulsive prosecutors of the case.

Her recent controversial encounter with (volunteer) private prosecutor Vitaliano Aguirre II has caught a lot of attention especially from the TV viewers. It seems that the Filipino’s sympathy is divided between the two personas; Aguirre for having the right to cover his tired ears from the Senator’s ear deafening harangue; Senator Santiago for telling the truth about the unpreparedness of the prosecution panel.

Recently, the Madame Senator is again on the hot seat after using an “unnecessary dub” in addressing the prosecution panel. Her madness has brought her to a point where most people are no longer entertained on her public display of intelligence. Even the church regarded to her as “worthy of the fires of hell.”

Nevertheless, I can still consider the honorable senator as being frank to what she’s obviously seeing in court. And it seems that there’s so much time wasted in fault-finding that should instead be appropriately consumed to address the immediate needs of the common Filipino.
