Only 8 of 99 aspiring presidential candidates are left to run for the May 20, 2010 elections after the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) screened and removed “nuisance” candidates from those who filed candidacy papers.

The 8 Presidential bets approved the COMELEC are following:

• Former President Joseph ‚ÄúErap‚Äù Estrada (Puwersa ng Masang Pilipino)
• Senator Manuel ‚ÄúManny‚Äù Villar (Nacionalista Party)
• Senator Richard Gordon (Bagumbayan-Volunteers for a New Philippines)
• Senator Jamby Madrigal (Independent)
• Former Department of National Defense Secretary Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro (Lakas-Kampi-CMD)
• Religious Leader Eddie Villanueva (Bangon Pilipinas)
• Olongapo City Councilor John Carlos de los Reyes (Ang Kapatiran Party
