The Pacquiao vs Clottey is Pacman’s last fight?
Coach Freddie Roach, who is now in Los Angeles with Manny Pacquiao training for the upcoming Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight, said that the Ghanaian boxer would be Pacquiao last opponent of dazzling career.
‚ÄúIf Mayweather doesn’t come around after the fight and he doesn’t sign to fight us, then this (Clottey fight) could be our last one,‚Äù that is the statement of the multi-awarded trainer on the interview with EastSideBoxing‚Äôs On the Ropes.
Because of his playing “hard to get,” Mayweather Jr. might lost his chance to fight with the 7-division world champ and the pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao.
Before signing up to fight Clottey, Manny Pacquiao’s and his camp had negotiations with the Mayweather camp for a super fight. However, the negotiation did not result to a positive end when Mayweather Jr. demanded an Olympic style drug testing.
Pacquiao ended up setting a fight with Clottey to defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title, while Mayweather opted to fight “Sugar” Shane Mosley.
“If negotiations with Mayweather fail and Manny wins against Cotto, he’ll be having seven world titles. Nobody has done that before, so there’s nothing else to prove,” the trainer told sports analyst Dennis Principe.
After the Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight, Pacman will be busy pursuing his political career. He is running for congressman in Sarangani province in the upcoming May 2010 election. The campaign for local posts starts on March 26.
It is widely believed that Mayweather came out of retirement to fight Pacquiao for what many has said would be the richest boxing match in history.
Boxing fans and aficionado, is really hoping for the big fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather to happen. I hope Pacquiao would give one more shot on the ring with Mayweather.
