Pacquiao vs. Clottey Match Promotion Kicked-Off At Cowboys Stadium
The pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and his worthy opponent Joshua Clottey started the promoting their March 13 fight at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas yesterday. Surrounded by dozens of dazzling Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders and under the world’s largest high-definition TV, the Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao and the Ghanian boxer Joshua Clottey officially announces their match on March 13, 2010.
The Pacquiao vs. Clottey fight was materialized after the long and controversial negotiation between Pacquiao and Mayweather camp failed come in a positive end. Although, the Pacquiao – Mayweather fight was highly anticipated, boxing fans and critics said that the Pacquiao vs. Clottey match-up is going to be an interesting fight.
“It’s going to be a good fight,” Pacquiao said. “Clottey, he is a good fighter, a top fighter, and he is bigger than me. I have to prepare hard for this fight and train hard and focus.”
The Ghanian boxer vowed that he intends to be more than simply a fill-in fighter destined to fall to the Philippines powerhouse. “This is going to be a hell of a fight,” Clottey said. “I love Manny Pacquiao. If you throw (punches) at him, he will throw back at you. I know what I’m going to face.”
The owner of the Cowboys Stadium Jerry Jones vowed that fight night will be even grander and splashier than the news conference, where sparklers fired from the tips of the flagpoles, and Michael Buffer gave his signature introduction. Jones presented Pacquiao with a No. 3 jersey featuring his name on the back while Clottey received a No. 13 jersey as cheerleaders screamed beneath a huge video screen. Significance of jersey number? It’s 3-13.
Pacquiao is holding 50-3-2 record with 38 KO’s and is widely considered the best fighter, pound-for-pound, in the world. While his opponent, Clottey is holding a record of 35-3 with 20 KO’s.
