Willie Revillame is Suspended Until September 20
Fans of Willie Revillame will have to wait until September 20 before he could go back to host popular noontime show, Wowowee.  Since Wilie’s the controversial comment last August 3, 2009 regarding the video inserts of burial of late Pres. Cory Aquino, Willie was not seen on Wowowee.  There are even petition to oust Willie as the host of the noontime show.  His mother network  ABS-CBN reported that will has extended his leave of absence and will allow him to resume hosting on Sept 21, 2009.  On the other hand the Daily Inquirer reported that Revillame’s  “extended his leave of absence” is a part of the “reconciliation/compromise settlement” by ABS-CBN and MTRCB.
Aside from the extended Willie’s “extended leave of absence”, MTRCB commanded that the dance segment of Luningning and Saicy Aguila will be removed from the show.  Here’s the excerpt of the ABS-CBN official statement:
“In the interest of self-regulation, ABS-CBN has availed of the conciliation process under Section 6, Rule 7, of the MTRCB Rules of Procedures, regarding the incidents involving Mr. Willie Revillame in the Program Wowowee. After having considered the facts, issues and terms of self-regulation to be imposed in the pertinent cases, the MTRCB has approved the same.
“WHEREOF, the ABS-CBN shall undertake to perform the following:1.  Extend Mr. Revillame’s leave until 20 September 2009, and
2.  Remove the present dance segment of Luningning and Saicy.“FURTHER, ABS-CBN reiterates that it is fully aware of its legal and moral responsibilities as a broadcaster and shall undertake to continue to uphold the values and customs of the Filipino viewing public.”
Well, Willie is not new in the suspension thing he had been suspended for several time in the past and he survived it.  And I think he can survive this one as well.
I support Willie’s point of view regarding this controversy and I believe that the incident is not enough reason to remove him from the show although Pokwang and Mariel are doing a wonderful joband as a matter of fact I enjoy watching it more now with them as co-hosts. If and when Willie does come back, I hope that he will refrain from being rude and condescending to his fellow employees. He should also stop from making sexual innuendoes. He should remember that Filipinos esp. the underprivileged look at him as a role model.

I am a TFC subscriber too and I believe that Willie Revillame should go. It is not the Cory’s cortege alone, but how he handles the show, how he act on the show, which is demeaning to an individual who treasure self-respect, dignity regardless of their economic status. He is rude, arrogant, lewd and exploits poor people to his advantage. Whoever refute this statement can visit the YOUTUBE and watch Mr. Revillame’s fantastic lewdness and the likes during the show which is watched by millions all over the world. We are paying more than 15,000 pesos per year fo our subscription to TFC and we deserve good and wholesome show. ABS-CBN might not fire WR because of the rating of the show, but we also have a choice, and that is to terminate our subscription as we don’t want to be a part of his doing.
