After few weeks of being hailed as the Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2010, Venus Raj was dethroned from her “royal seat” by the Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc. due to questionable birth records.
The Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc. found some inconsistencies on Venus Raj’s birth certificate. Bb. Pilipinas PR Manager Jenny Inocencio-Marcial said: “Both Venus and her mother said she was born in Doha, Qatar, while yung na-submit nilang legal documents say she was born in the Philippines.”
Venus is a half-Indian half-Pinoy beauty. She was supposed to represent the Philippines in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant to be held in August in which Venus already one of the early favorites to win the crown. But due to the questionable birth records she’s been stripped off the title.
On the official statement released by The Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc. it says:
“Today March 29, 2010, Bb. Pilipinas Charities, Inc. decided, with a heavy heart, to let Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2010 Maria Venus Raj go, after the organization discovered inconsistencies contained in her birth records, in contrast to her personal account of her birth.”
According to the rules of Bb. Pilipinas, when one titleholder gets dethroned the first runner-up will replace her. But the 1st runner-up, Dianne Necio, is only 17 years old. Dianne she is not qualified to join Miss Universe pageant since the pageant’s age limit is 18 to 26 years old. Due to age issue, the second runner-up winner, Helen Henson, will then fill the vacated position.
In 1999, similar incident happened when Bb. Pilipinas-Universe title holder Janelle Bautista was dethroned due to irregularities in her residency papers. Miriam Quiambao was asked to fill the vacated position. That year Mirriam brings home the Miss Universe – 1st Runner-up title.
