The kidnapped priest Fr. Micheal Sinnott is back in Pagadian City, Philippines after resting in his home country Ireland. The 80-year-old Irish priest was kidnapped for about a month in Pagadian way back in October 2009.
Upon arrival, Sinnott immediately visited the Hangop Kabataan Foundation in Pagadian, where he was welcomed by special children and colleagues.
Sinnott returned to work at Pagadian City on Monday morning. There were no noticeable signs of trauma from his days in captivity; in fact, he even joked with reporters about his kidnapping.
According to the 80-year-old Irish missionary the incident should not stop him from doing charitable work that he has already started.
He also led the reporters on a tour around the foundation, proudly showing off the works of the children.
Fr. Sinnott said that his family has been convincing him to retire, but he said his life is in Pagadian City, with the children that he has been caring for even before his abduction.

by admin, on Tue, Jan 26 2010 | No CommentsThe dancing jailbirds of Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) hit the YouTube once again with their awesome performance of Michael Jackon‚Äôs ‚ÄúThey Don‚Äôt Really Care About Us.‚Äù This new dance routine of CPDRC is led by Michael Jackson’s longtime choreographer Travis Payne and dancers Daniel Celebre and Dres Reid who paid a visit to the Philippines just to teach the inmates routines from “This Is It.”
The video clip runs 4 minutes and 26 seconds. It shows MJ‚Äôs choreographer Travis Payne leading 1,200 inmates wearing the orange prison pants and black shirts featuring the DVD’s logo through a well-synchronized jail yard routine.
The video clip has generated more than one million hits since since it was uploaded on Friday by Sony Entertainment ahead of Tuesday’s global release of the late superstar’s “This is It” DVD.
The CPDRC inmates had started hitting the YouTube since 2007. On December 19, 2007, in an article on “Most Popular Viral Videos”, Time Magazine placed the inmates’ Cebu Thriller as 5th in its Top 10 list. Time’s stated description of the prisoners was: “Orange-jump uited accused murderers, rapists and drug dealers paid homage to Michael Jackson’s Thriller in a dance performance filmed at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center in the Philippines (CPDRC). The
Thriller clip has since generated 37.5 million hits on YouTube, while other dance routines have also been posted and fueled the prisoners’ cult aura.
Officials at the jail began the dance exercises as a way to ease tensions among the inmates and improve their chances at rehabilitation. They, and prisoners who have been previously interviewed, say the program has been a huge success, with fighting among inmates down markedly since the dancing was introduced.

The inauguration was led by her presidential candidate son Noynoy Aquino with Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, a loyal ally of the late Pres. Aquino. The monument was placed beside the statue of her husband, martyred hero Benigno Aquino Jr.

It is the first memorial shrine honoring the well-loved Aquino, or simply Cory to the Filipino people, according to its sculptor Eduardo Castrillo.
Castrillo made the country’s first statue of Aquino’s martyred husband, Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr. in Concepcion, Tarlac, as well as another Ninoy statue in the People Power monument on Edsa.
The newly unveiled 15-foot bronze statue of Aquino stands beside a statue of Ninoy (not by Castrillo) on Roxas Boulevard and Padre Burgos Drive across the historic Manila Hotel.
It shows the country’s first woman president flashing the “Laban!” (Fight!) sign with her right hand and holding the 1987 Philippine Constitution with the other.
