Veteran Actor Johnny Delgado Died At 61

Johnny delgadoThe Award-winning veteran actor Johnny Delgado passed away at the age of 61. Juan Marasigan Feleo, in real life, succumbed to cancer this afternoon at around 1:45PM. Johnny died due complications of lymphoma, a type of cancer involving cells of the immune system.

Johnny Delgado, died at his home in Quezon City with his wife, actress-filmmaker Laurice Guillen, daughters Anna and Ina, and his closest friends by his side. Delgado’s cancer was diagnosed in 2008. He underwent eight cycles of chemotherapy.

He had an operation in August because of perforations in his intestines, “one of the side effects of chemo,‚Äù Feleo explained. He was too weak to stand another round of chemo. Last November 15, Delgado was taken to the St. Luke’s Medical Center after he vomited blood. ‚ÄúHe left the hospital two days later. Daddy said he just wanted to go home,‚Äù Feleo said.

Rhap Salazar Debut on Ellen DeGeneres Show

After the stunning performance of Charice on Ellen Ellen DeGeneres show, another young Filipino talent had made it to one of the America’s top-rated talk show, in the person of Rhap Salazar. The 12-year old Rhap is also the 2009 WCOPA Junior Grand Champion held earlier this year.

Last November 17, Rhap perform on the stage of Ellen, he performed an eardrum-rupturing version of Celine Dion’s “All By Myself,” the same piece he performed at WCOPA. The newest judge of the American Idol describes Rhap’s singing voice as “incredible” and having so much “power and emotion.”

During a short Q&A, DeGeneres asked the 12-year-old singer who his favorite singers are. Rhap mentioned the names of Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Josh Groban and Beyonce Knowles. Ellen also revealed that it was Rhap’s birthday wish to perform on her show and famous also host said she saw Rhap on YouTube, same as with her first ‘discovery,’ of Charice.

Rhap Salazar is the fourth Filipino musical talent to appear on Ellen DeGeneres’ show after Charice Pempengco, Arnel Pineda of Journey, and Rin on the Rox. Charice and Rhap are products of ABS-CBN’s kiddie talent search “Little Big Star Season 1” in 2005.

It was DeGeneres herself, through her sponsors, who shouldered Salazar’s trip to the US.

Fans Wants Pacquiao vs. Mayweather Dream Match

Few minutes after Manny Pacquiao was declared as the winner in his fight against Miguel Cotto, the chant from thousands of fans in the MGM Grand Garden Arena rose up: “We want Floyd!”

In the Pacquiao vs. Cotto, Pacman managed to deliver yet another stunning, crowd-pleaser bout. The number for the pay-per-view has not yet finalized, but it was believed that it will break the Mayweather vs. Marquez record set in September.

Mayweather fought and defeated Marquez, Hatton and Dela Hoya. On the other hand Pacquiao fought and defeated Marquez, Hatton and Dela Hoya as well. There’s only one thing left to prove who the real supremo in the boxing world is. The inevitable Mayweather vs. Pacquiao duel.

The stage is set for a super fight that could set box office records – Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. It’s the dream bout between the two best pound-for-pound champions in the sport, hopefully sometime in 2010.

According to Bob Arum, the CEO of Top Rank Boxing that handles the promotion for Manny Pacquiao “If Floyd Mayweather wants to fight Manny Pacquiao he knows who to call.” Within minutes, Ross Greenberg, the head of HBO Sports said he had spoken to Richard Shaefer of Golden Boy Promotions, which represents Mayweather.
