Melay’s Lip Sync of Forever’s Not Enough— an Inday Kengkay’s Ticket to Stardom

by Clarisse, on Thu, Oct 22 2009 | 1 Comment

melisaSince its launch in 2005, Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) has already produced lots of artists. Almost every housemate from each season has entered the showbizness making the reality show more like an artista-search to the viewers. This is not to be taken negatively though. PBB stars like Kim Chiu has brought much success to the Philippine entertainment industry which makes all the ‘artista-search-qualities’ of the program, in some way, beneficial.

However, the difficult part is the fact that because people now view PBB as an artista search rather than a reality show, most PBB housemates already tries to get the viewer’s attention from the very time they set foot at the famous house. This makes some of them entertaining and some irritating. Mellissa aka Melay is a combination of both.

The Inday Kengkay of the house has taken the limelight from the very beginning of the show. The fun in her naturally comes out which allowed her to capture her fellow housemates‚Äô hearts and eventually, the viewers’. But she is never safe from criticisms‚Äî she‚Äôs also the PBB‚Äôs most OA participant according to some avid viewers of the show.

This may be true, but nobody can still deny that Melay makes each PBB day colorful. In fact, she‚Äôs now an ultimate YouTube star! Her Lip Sync of Forever‚Äôs Not Enough has been a big hit. This said; Will this ‚ÄòPBB moment‚Äô be an Inday Kengkay‚Äôs ticket to stardom? Nobody knows. One thing is certain: We all had fun watching her ‘sing her heart out‚Äô.

Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista Is Back With A Vengeance

by admin, on Mon, Oct 19 2009 | No Comments

Hamon_sa_KampeonAfter 11 months “hibernation” from the boxing ring, the pride of Bohol is back with a vengeance.  On his fight for the vacant interim WBC International featherweight title at the Waterfront Hotel ballroom in Cebu last Friday night, Boom Boom proved both to his fans and doubters that he still has the “BOOM!”

Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista was away from the boxing ring for 11 months because of the fractured scaphoid – the bone of the thumb side of the carpus that is the largest in the proximal row – while sparring with Gerry Penalosa two years ago and never revealed the injury until losing to Mexico’s Heriberto Ruiz on points last November.  Just this February, Bautista underwent surgery to repair the damage of his left hands.  Bautista endured five months of daily therapy before resuming his training.

For 11 months, he had been away from the ring, where he loved to be, recovering not only from surgery, but also from deeply wounded pride.  Many had doubted and even ridiculed the pride of Bohol when he suffered his first, and probably the most humiliating loss, to Daniel Ponce De Leon way back in 2007 in a WBO super bantamweight title duel.  His loss was the only defeat of the Philippine team at the Boxing World Cup, which would have been clean sweep for the country and making it even more embarrassing for Boom Boom.

White Lace and Promises

After the long absence in the music scene, Agot Isidro is back with her brand new album the “White Lace and Promises”. The White Lace and Promises is a collection of well-loved and popular wedding songs. The album is Agot first since her 2006 ala-bossa nova album “The Island”.

According to her “I didn’t think I could sing this song. I thought the song was too ‘big’ for me and I knew how popular and well-loved this song is to Filipinos. I hope I gave justice (to) my version.”

The album consists of OPM classics and international standards that can be used for both intimate and big weddings. The singer-actress also did a duet with Martin Nievera on the Patti Austin-James Ingram song, “True Love.”

Other songs in the album is Rico J. Puno’s “Together Forever,” The Carpenters’ “We’ve Only Just Begun”, wherein the second verse of the is where the title of Agot’s album was lifted, Shania Twain’s “From This Moment,” and The Corrs’ “Runaway” (which Agot sang at the Judy Ann Santos- Ryan Agoncillo). The ‚ÄúWhite Lace and Promises‚Äù album is released under PolyEast Records.
